Joey Jordison of Slipknot Confirmed Dead By Family

Joey Jordison is best known for being the lead drummer and one of the founding members of heavy metal band, Slipknot. A rep for Jordison’s family had confirmed his death to rock and roll magazine, Rolling Stones. Jordison allegedly died in his sleep, yesterday, July 26, 2021 at the age of 46. The representative stated:

“Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow,” reads a statement from Jordison’s family. “To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart, and his love for all things family and music. The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans, and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time.”

Currently, the cause of death is not known nor have the family members disclosed the cause as of yet. According to TMZ, as of 2:06 PT, “Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Jordison was pronounced dead at the scene … we’re told no foul play is suspected and there were no illegal drugs found at the house…” The family intends on holding a private funeral service.

In earlier years, Jordison was responsible for many hit songs. However, Jordison split from the band, Slipknot, in 2013. Allegedly, the band had suggested that Jordison had quit the band. But, in fact, Jordison suggested that he was fired. In 2016, he revealed that he suffered from a neurological disease called, transverse myelitis, which he suggests cost him his role in Slipknot. Despite the departure, Jordison was also responsible for other side projects such as the Murderdolls and in later years, Scar the Martyr. Jordison remains one of the best and most skilled drummers. In 2010, he was voted as the best drummer in the last 25 years according to Rhythm Magazine beating Neil Pert and Dave Grohl.

On July 27, 2021 at 7:37 pm, Slipknot and some of its members have put up a black banner on twitter to honor Jordison. As of July 27, 2021, none of members of Slipknot released a statement in respect to this occurrence.
