Synopsis
The story begins where a young lady named Jenny stays at the Bridgeburn Hotel on her way to a music concert. When Jenny disappears, her sister, Sarah, looks for her. While on her search, Sarah stays at the same hotel, where she is terrorized by the hotel manager.
Gore Factor
There are only a few gore scenes in this film, mainly when the victims are killed. The gore and death scenes are well done but are overshadowed by the horrific acting and dialogue of the film. The most notably gore scene is in the first 10 minutes of the film involving the first victim. Following that scene, the films gore aspect declines from there.
The Grave Review
It is no secret that intelligence and common sense are rare attributes when it comes to characters in a horror movie. Insane is the cliche horror film that follows this principle to a tee. The protagonists in Insane (2010) are oblivious to the eerie vibe of hotel manager, David, (Lars Bethke) along with the fact that there is not one guest staying at the hotel. The red flags are so obvious that the story made little sense.
The acting is also something to be desired. The dialogue does not have a natural feel, and additionally, the conversations between two people seemed unnatural and robotic. In this way, the acting and dialogue does not add value to the eerie vibe that the film was intended to do.
The only aspect of this film that is insane is the overly moronic characters that hand themselves over to the killer on a silver spoon. There are only few films that I can describe as irritating and infuriating. This is one of them.
For the above mentioned reasons, Grave Reviews gives Insane (2010), one-half Grave out of five Graves.
