Brittney N. Hamilton is a special effects (SFX) designer that grew up in California and currently resides in Alabama with her fiancé. She started creating a variety of special effects designs and masks as a hobby six years ago. Since then, she has acquired a following of nearly 30,000 users on social media, specifically Instagram. What started as simple cotton and latex, blossomed into a talent that even she didn’t imagine she had.
Like all horror fans, Brittney grew up loving classic films, such as Dracula and Frankenstein to the more modern films of IT and The Conjuring. The characters portrayed in these films have helped to inspire her ability to create and reinvent certain villains and iconic figures. Over time, Brittney’s work has become more sophisticated and more demented. We love every bit of it.
Generally, it takes Brittney roughly three hours to complete a special effects design with makeup. However, to make a mask is more time consuming and can take anywhere from one week to one month depending on the complexity. To date, Brittney has created more than twenty masks. In addition, Brittney has been selling individual mask designs for several years.
In addition to individual works, Brittney has collaborated with various artists both on social media and locally. Some of her collaborations include creating a posse of killer clowns, making a recreation of the ghosts from the film Thirteen Ghosts, designing the human condition which entailed deformed and diseased individuals, and illustrating your traditional flesh-eating zombies to name a few. In viewing her work, one can safely conclude that Brittney puts her heart and soul into these projects which are greatly admired.
DEMENTED YET SATISFYING
Since Brittney’s journey began, she has received numerous offers to work as a designer. She hopes to work as a designer or possibly act for various haunted house attractions and film productions. We wish Brittney the very best in her career and we will be rooting for her.
