Nightmare Before Christmas Sequel

WILL THERE BE A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS SEQUEL?
Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas is reaching its 25th Anniversary since its release in 1993. For years, Tim Burton has been reluctant to give anyone permission to make a sequel to his creepy, yet heart-felt film. Originally, the film was released under Disney’s Touchstone Pictures production company. After much success, in 2001, Disney wanted to create a sequel to Burton’s film. However, instead of stop-motion animation, Disney wanted to use computer animation. However, Burton did not allow this as he felt it would take away from the edgy, rugged story and imagery that we have all grown to love.
According to sources, the Manga Publisher, Tokyopop, has acquired the licensing rights to the film. In doing so, it will develop a sequel, not in the form of a film but in the form of manga comics. The Sequel will continue the original Nightmare story from the perspective of Jack’s ghost dog, Zero. The comic will be called “Nightmare Before Christmas: Zero’s Journey”, which is about how Zero became lost in Christmas Town and also develops the original story as well. Not much information has been released on the sequel but is anticipated to become available sometime in 2018.
I have not found sources saying that Burton will consult with Tokyopop in making these comics, but it definitely would be a good idea. Otherwise, we may see a new twist with Nightmare Before Christmas, which could be a good or bad thing.
How do you feel about this? Let me know what you think.
