Move over, Resident Evil Village. There are some amazing video game entries under the horror genre that are yet to be released this 2021.
If you have finished the roughly 10-hour long campaign of the most recent Resident Evil, you might be itching for more horror games this year.
Luckily for all of us, there seems to be an abundance of great content coming to a variety of gaming platforms.
Listed below are four of our most anticipated horror games to look out for Post-Resident Evil Village.
***Note: The below games have no official release date as of this posting***
The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)
House of Ashes is the third installment in The Dark Pictures Anthology and is set in the ruins of a Sumerian temple situated deep within the Arabian desert.
You assume the role of soldiers from a military unit, in search of chemical weapons, but find something much more dangerous.
House of Ashes promises horrific discoveries and impossible decisions as the players navigate through a terrifying subterranean labyrinth.
If you are a fan of exploration and a branching decision-based narrative, then this game is definitely for you.
Dying Light 2 (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)
Dying Light 2 is the sequel to one of the most popular zombie action RPG games way back in 2015.
In this game, you get to explore a massive urban human settlement in Europe that exists within a dangerous, infected world.
Your character’s athleticism and unique abilities will take you far, but it is up to the player to make choices to lead humanity back out of this terrible predicament.
If you are a fan of deep RPG elements and open-world parkour, then this game is definitely for you.
Evil Dead: The Game (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch)
Evil Dead: The Game is a multiplayer horror game that is marketed as an over-the-top experience within the Evil Dead universe.
In this game, not only do you have to manage your fear and anxiety, but you would also have to work together as a team with three other survivors, exploring, looting, crafting, and discovering key artifacts to seal the breach between the human and demon worlds.
You can also assume the role of the evil Kandarian Demon and use the environment (and at times the survivors themselves) to eliminate the opposition.
If you are a fan of co-op and PVP combat, then this game is a perfect match for you.
Martha is Dead (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)
Martha is Dead is an upcoming indie horror adventure game that was introduced last year and is set for release this year, and made by the same group of people behind the popular 2016 psychological horror adventure game The Town of Light.
Set in Italy’s Tuscany region in 1944, the player must navigate through the intensified conflict between the German and Allied forces as she uncovers the truth behind the brutal murder of her twin sister.
The game explores personal loss, the strength of relationships, and a lot of psychological undertones from the eyes of a young woman at the height of World War II.
If you are a fan of first-person psychological thriller games with a historical touch, then this game is a very good option.
