As a licensed cosmetologist who enjoys making people look their best, Mandie Pacitti, is taking on a new project. Born and raised in Western Massachusetts, Mandie has worked as a brow waxing expert and makeup artist for the company, “Benefit Cosmetics” for the past five years. Over time, she began helping her friends during the Halloween season to create scary looks that can frighten any patron. Since then, Mandie has started her journey in the realm of Halloween makeup and designs.
BOTH BEAUTIFUL AND DISTURBING
Mandie’s specialty lies in both face and body painting. As a horror lover, her desire has always been to incorporate both cosmetic work with that of iconic villains as seen in various horror flicks. Having a love for all things zombie related, some of her inspirations have included the special effects guru, Tom Savini, along with films such as Night of the Living Dead and The Evil Dead.
But, even those individuals with a stomach for horror, have their own fears. One fear that Mandie has said shaped her designs is the fear of death. But, her perspective on her fear is quite interesting. Rather than focus on the negative, she appreciates life and the simple things even more because of her innate fear. Ultimately, her works reflect just that. Upon first observing Mandie’s designs, her works showcase her talent and inspiration for both a popart and vibrant style. However, the consistency in hers works stay true to the creepy and terrifying imagery we hope for in halloween works. In some ways, her works resemble a voodoo-esk and tribal feel. Upon speaking with Mandie, each piece takes approximately two to four hours to make.
Mandie has also collaborated with various companies and artist on social media. Some collaborations have included a recreation of The Evil Dead characters and the Joker/Harley Quinn duo. In addition, Mandie will be performing a demonstration of her artistic abilities at the upcoming Horror Movie and Musical Festival, Rock and Shock located at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. As a lover of all things horror, we appreciate Mandie’s design abilities and contribution to the horror community. We wish her the best and hope you succeeds in her Halloween makeup artwork.
