Synopsis
The 2014 film, Houses October Built is about five friends who go on a road trip to find the scariest haunted house in the country. During their journey, they hear this rumor about a group called “The Blue Skeletons” who can offer an extreme haunted experience. When they are taken captive from this group, the end of the movie ends with each member being buried alive.
Gore Factor
There is no gore in this film. The Houses October Built (2017) focuses more on suspense rather than gore and blood.
The Grave Review
The Houses October Built 2 (2017) continues where the group survives the traumatic events that the Blue Skeletons created. One year later, the five friends continue what they have started and embark on a new journey across the Country.
However, the one thing that the sequel lacks, in my opinion, is the story. The premise of the first film was very creative and had an amateur-like and edginess to it. It is true that in the first film, the group did visit haunted houses, however, they never went out of their way to speak with the owners or emphasize the name of the haunted attraction.
In the sequel, the film very much feels like one big media advertisement. They go to each haunt, speak with the owners, and make sure that you know what the name of the event is called. That element was very disappointing because it took away from the rugged style of the first film.
Nevertheless, as a scare enthusiast, it was fun to see the various attractions and events that are out there.
For the foregoing reasons, Grave Reviews gives The Houses October Built 2 (2017)one and one-half graves out of five graves.
