A review and rumor of the PS4 game, Bloodborne
Video Games have certainly come a long way since I was a child. Within the last decade, we have seen a new genre of difficult games. These games mirror some of the old concepts of gaming. Demon Souls and Dark Souls are just a few examples that have taken the difficulty to the next level. These games leave many players frustrated, but give them extreme gratification as they progress through these games. However, the games are beautifully crafted and build on the concept of trying new strategies to progress in the game.
Personally, I enjoy these games because it reminds me of my childhood playing Megaman 2. I still consider Megaman one of the most difficult games ever created. I also enjoy the concept of treasure hunting, which the game also embraces. Anyone who was an avid player of Diablo 2 will appreciate the concept of building your character. The continuous challenges, the exploration of the areas and the beautiful imagery has lured the community to enjoy the Souls Series and games alike.
Bloodborne, which was released by FromSoftware in 2015 for the PlayStation 4 exclusively, became an instant hit. Using the “Dark Souls” gameplay and combining a “Jack-the-Ripper” like setting, Bloodborne has developed a substantial following within the community.
Rumors?
As of October 2017, there was no word of a sequel in the series of Bloodborne. However, it has been reported that Bloodborne will be made into a comic book series with an expected release date of February 2018, published by Titan Comics.
Producers of the Bloodborne series, Teruyuki Toriyama and Masaaki Yamagiwa indicated as of 2016, that they were working on an “existing IP.” However, at this year’s E3 gaming convention, there was no announcement of a sequel. That is not to say that rumors have not been flying by left and right about a new development. In my opinion, it is more likely that a new game with the same qualities as Bloodborne will be announced, but not anytime soon.
As a fan of the Souls series and as a horror fanatic, it is difficult not to find a game that combines both loves. We can only hope the producers will continue this genre.
