Blood Manor Haunted House NYC 2017 Review
Recently, I visited the Haunted House, Blood Manor in New York City. Blood Manor is located on 163 Varick Street, New York, NY 10013. My review of this attraction is listed below:
Visitors/Attendees
There was a range of individuals who attended this attraction from teenagers to adults. The Blood Manor website indicates that this attraction is not “recommended” for people under the age of 14. Further, anyone under the age of 14 is to be accompanied by an adult. In my opinion, much of the content displayed may not be suitable for anyone under the age of 18, but act in your discretion. This attraction has many sexual and violent décor throughout, including actors wearing revealing clothing.
Story
The attraction is roughly 20 minutes if you go at a fairly normal pace and explore each room. There is no story to this haunted house. Each room in the attraction is separate and distinct from the other. Each room will display its own sequence.
Visuals
The decorations and props are very much what you would expect at a haunted house. As indicated above, there are many decorations that display grotesque corpse disfigurations and penetrating spikes or other devices through a body. In addition, there are also some nude decorative bodies and paintings. You will explore various areas from butcher-like situations to clowns. You will also be exploring in a pitch-black room.
The most interesting part of the décor was the 3D area. You will be given 3D glasses and walk through a maze-like room where you see the paintings on the wall move. The actors in this room are dressed in similar colors to the paintings to blend in with the walls. This makes for a more frightening experience when they try to scare you.
Actors
If you like your personal space, you may not like this attraction. The actors will often either run or walk up to you and come very close to your body. They may pretend to touch you or in some circumstances sniff you.
The actors were dressed accordingly to each room and would try to sneak up and scare you. The actors would also try to engage in conversation, but very solemnly.
Price
As of this posting, tickets are $40.00. RIP passes which allows you to go on a separate line are will be a quicker entrance into Blood Manor is $55.00.
See link.
Overall
Blood Manor was a fun experience. There were many interesting rooms with different themes. However, at times, it did not feel like there was any flow to what you were seeing. In addition, because each room had its own theme, it often took away from the scare element to make for a fluid transition into the next area. Overall, I enjoyed the night, but by the end, Blood Manor will make you wanting more.
