If you are thinking this book will be like his father’s films, think again. Although Mel Brook’s parody Young Frankenstein has become a cult classic, his son takes a different twist on the subject. Max Brook’s The Zombie Survival Guide was published in 2003 and focuses on just that, a complete guide to surviving any zombie apocalypse. This guide is completely serious when it comes to protecting yourself. Brook’s goes into every detail on how you can protect yourself in the upcoming apocalypse …Yes its coming, just you wait.
The guide starts by defining how the undead came to be and the possible causes for its result. Brook’s also talks about the possible symptoms of becoming infected and how you can detect the virus if it is manifesting in you. He further goes into detail about the attributes that an undead specimen will exhibit such as how fast they are, why they eat flesh and, what their strength is like.
From choice of weapon to choosing the safest terrain, Max Brook’s guide covers it. He will advise you on how long you should keep your hair, whether to travel in groups and what strategies to take under certain situations. Its no laughing matter until it happens. When the day comes, this guide will become your bible.
Towards the end of the guide, Brooks cites a series of examples when the undead walked the earth referencing events back from 60,000 B.C. to 2002 A.D. It is clear that having a situation where the undead become “alive” is very possible if not probable. It may not be in the form as shown on TV, but the end result is what matters.
The Zombie Survival Guide is currently selling on Amazon for under $10.00.
